It’s All About the Girls

by Kareen King on April 28, 2010

I and a couple friends visited a 96-year-old gentleman in a nursing home the other day. When we arrived, he had just taken out his hearing aids and couldn’t understand a word we said. Unfortunately, we weren’t skilled in the technique of inserting hearing aids, so I went looking for one of the caregivers for assistance.

In seconds a CNA had his hearing aids properly inserted so that we could experience what turned out to be a rather lively and colorful conversation.

“I couldn’t live without these girls. If you (meaning his three guests) weren’t here, I’d give you a kiss,” he declared to the CNA teasingly.

If that weren’t enough, he, being a widower, went on to flirt a bit with one of my friends.

“I’m still lookin’ for a woman to take care of me. If your husband passes on before you do, send me a note,” he teased.

We told him that he had plenty of girls around him to “take care” of him.

“They’re too expensive,” he joked.

He then expounded a bit on working women after relaying that he had served in the war.

“You girls got yourself a paycheck and never came back.”
