Nature Bursting Forth Into Life

by Kareen King on April 24, 2010

Awhile back I set up an opportunity for some group poetry with the residents while seated in a room that houses a large picture window. The window provided a picturesque view of the surrounding landscape.

I recently rediscovered a copy of the poem that the residents collaborated on as I facilitated an opportunity for them to identify everything they could see while gazing past the window. Since the poem took place during the springtime, I thought it would be appropriate to include it as I look now through my own picture window to see the signs of spring all around me. The picture I’ve posted is of a Snapper I saw while driving down my country road yesterday.

Nature Bursting Forth Into Life
By Penny, Charles, Dorothy, Bertie, Emilou, Robert, Leona, Carrol, Mildred, and Euleta

All of nature is bursting forth into life
Beautiful Redbud trees. Bradford pear tree
I love the pond
Birds singing
Peace and calm
Cloudy sky
Beautiful green trees, birds’ nests
Wheat springing up
Cars going by to come and watch what we do
There is an ugly tree with the biggest blackbirds you have ever seen, standing up like soldiers, waiting for their turn to come in
I could sit there and look at it all day because of the crooks in that old, ugly tree
But those big old blackbirds like it
There are little trees out in the pasture
The leaves are coming out now
Life is ever changing.
