This morning, while my daughter and I were traveling to Lawrence, KS, I decided to take her on the scenic route because of my love for adventure and exploration. Reminiscing on all the wonderful “Advantures” I used to take the Brookside residents on, I just had to take her around Lone Star Lake. Just as we began crossing the dam, I was stunned by the realization that we were coming upon at least a couple dozen huge turkey vultures stationed like soldiers along both walls of the dam. Oprah would not be pleased that I took several seconds of video footage with my cell phone, but trust me, we were the only witnesses to this incredible moment. Unfortunately, the cell phone doesn’t do justice to what we had the privilege of seeing. But enjoy it by using a bit of your imagination. What you can’t see are the vultures on the left side of the dam as well as their magnificent wing span as they lifted from their perches and soared in front of us, one by one.
